Pictures of the family.

Rigging Up the Lights

Spent Saturday rigging up the outdoor Christmas lights.  Not quite done yet, but I like what I’ve done all the same.  I’ll snap some finished pics soon.

And here’s Dawn, who stayed inside where it was warm, and who was absolutely no help putting the lights up.

One Year Old

Our second baby is no longer a baby.  Dawn is one year old today, and on top of that she’s been walking (poorly) for a couple of weeks now.  She’s not the little bundle of cry-and-nurse we took home from the hospital on that sleeting, snowing day a year ago!

Here’s the little birthday girl, trying on her jaunty new birthday hat (thanks, Aunt Stacie and Uncle David!):

Early Snow

This one’s for all the southern relations: taken from my front porch, about 10 minutes ago.  Yes, that’s big, fluffy white flakes.  And yes, it’s starting to stick.

UPDATE: An hour later. Snow still falling (small and wet now, so it doesn’t show in the pic) and it’s covering everything:

Jack-O-Lanterns 2008

Life has been busy this year, and so we really went down to the wire carving jack-o-lanterns for 2008.  But here they are:

From L-R that’s Dawn’s, mine, Robin’s, and Daniel’s. Dawn’s pumpkin is actually wearing a little crown, but that didn’t show up in the pic.

The pic isn’t the best, mostly because of my camera. The battery pack has become a HUGE issue–Kodak really did a poor design–and I could not mount/steady the camera to take the picture, because the moment I stop pressing the battery cover with my thumb, it loses power. So frustrating! If not for the battery issue, the camera works fine, like so:

Halloweekend 2008

After missing last year, we made our way to Halloweekends at Greenfield Village again tonight.  Daniel really got into it.  He had a blast, and it’s a ton of fun waling the park at night with hundreds of jack o’lanterns lit everywhere, and all the park attractions done up with spooky decorations.  It’s good fun.  Dawn go fusst and cranky, but what more can you expect from a cold, tired 11 month old?

Here’s Daniel and Dawn in their costumes for the night.  Daniel is Mario, from the Nintendo games; Dawn wore a warm winter monkey outfit that her aunt had bought for Daniel a few years ago.

Waiting in line for the park to let us in:

A few shots of the sights in the park (I love the skeleton xylopone players):

And Daniel hoisting the prize of the night, the free Halloween Beanie Baby (official, straight from Ty):

Punkin’ Huntin’ 2008

After last year’s less than stellar trip to the cider mill near our home, we decided to make the drive out to an old college haunt: Uncle John’s Cider Mill near Mt. Pleasant, MI.  This place is the best cider mill EVER.  Delicious cider and donuts, a nice country atmosphere, and a HUGE pumpkin patch where we used to buy our pumpkins each and every year.  It was a big family treat, and we found some great pumpkins to boot.  Here’s pics:

Meh.

Got the camera working again.  Fiddled with the latch, used tape, a touch of padding.  Damnit, this wouldn’t be neccessary if Kodak hadn’t used such a bizarre design for their battery case.

This one’s for Mom:

Lack of Pictures

My digital camera is broken.  Which completely sucks.

Actually, the camera probably works fine.  But the battery casing was designed poorly, so that the “hatch” holding the batteries in has to push tight in order for it to work.  And that’s gotten weaker and looser, and now it’s nigh impossible to get a good circuit–not long enough to take a pic and download it, at any rate.

SO damn frustrating.

Movement

Yeesh.  A whole month since my last post?  Sorry.  Just been distracted, and not taking pictures.

This has been the month of movement for Dawn.  The little cupcake is moving fast.  What she really loves to do, though, is stand, and half the time I don’t think she is crawling–she’s trying to stand up, and just happens to push herself forward!  Anyway, here are a few pics:

A Day At the Village

Saturday was nice and warm but low humidity, so we decided to spend a few hours at Greenfield Village.

Daniel wanted to play with the camera, and so we let him walk through the park with it. The following are all pics that he took himself:
