I didn't get the decorating done that I wanted, but I had some good-looking pumpkins and we had lots of trick-or-treaters come to the door.

Daniel wasn't in a good mood. He trick-or-treated at two local houses, but was fussy the whole time, didn't want to put on his cape, and kept saying that he wanted to go for a ride in the car. So Robin drove him to grandma's house to trick-or-treat, while I stayed behind to hand out candy. We had nearly 400 pieces of candy to begin the night. I gave out two or three pieces per kid, somewhat arbitrarily--two as a standard, but three for great costumes, people who complimented my pumpkins, etc. At the end of the night we had 45 or so pieces left. Even allowing that I ate some, we had over 100 trick-or-treaters. That's like a lifetime record for me!

Puking pumpkin got lots of comments. Because I didn't put the puke out until today it was nice and juicy and the liquid drained across the porch--it looked like sick! Check it out:

labrys@geocities.com (Brian P. It was later at night than we would have liked, and it was COLD to boot, but it was still a blast. Here's Daniel in his Halloween costume, ready for the fun. The costume is actually a pair of Superman pajamas (50% off at Sears) combined with a SUPERMAN RETURNS cape and symbol he got for his birthday. It looks damn better than the Superman costumes we saw on the kids' Halloween racks:

Unfortunately, my camera isn't very good at night, especially in a crowd where I couldn't really take time. Interestingly, the HumanLight website has been updated for the 2006 season and has added to its pages a general response to criticisms, several of which appear to be directly or indirectly addressing points from my article (as well as points brought up in an IIDB discussion with a HumanLight founder that my article prompted).

Worth reading, if you're interested. Coincidentally, I am polishing off a follow-up article of my own to hopefully publish at SecWeb this holiday season.

[On a related Christmas-y note, it snowed here yesterday.
